Where Our Story Started
When 3D Aim Trainer first contacted madewithlove, the platform faced clear challenges: performance degradation from a growing database and legacy PHP backend, limited technical expertise on staff, and distraction from building enhanced dashboard and leaderboard features needed to attract new customers.

CTO in Residence
The engagement began with CTO in residence services, supplementing the engineering team with senior staff. Over three months, madewithlove addressed initial pain points by aligning technical vision with product roadmap, implementing continuous integration and deployment tooling, resolving performance issues, and creating a containerized development environment for easier engineer onboarding.
The primary technical decision involved decoupling the front-end as a Next.js application while building a new Laravel API, migrating from the highly-coupled server-side rendered system using the strangler pattern and secure token-based authentication.

Optimizing the Environment
The infrastructure required modernization. The legacy system lacked redundancy and proved expensive. Madewithlove guided the team in designing and implementing new infrastructure on DigitalOcean, creating a scalable solution without over-engineering.
MySQL and Redis moved to managed services, reducing the main data store by over 50%.
Better Software & Recruiting a New Team
Development focused on a new dashboard and leaderboard system. Engineers designed an efficient Redis-based framework for continued team improvement.
After five months, madewithlove assisted with team scaling through recruiting services covering resume screening, technical evaluation, and onboarding support. 3D Aim Trainer hired two staff engineers, with platform responsibility successfully transitioned.
